Massage Therapy FAQ

Question markWhere Will My Massage Be Given?

Your massage will take place in a private, warm and cozy room. You’ll lie on a comfortable table. With soft lighting and soothing music, we endeavour to make the most relaxing environment possible in our family wellness clinic.

What Should I Wear to the Massage Appointment?

While comfortable clothing is recommended for massage, a client is typically unclothed during a therapeutic massage. Because your privacy is respected at all times during the massage, you will be appropriately draped throughout the appointment. Many clients undress completely, while others leave some clothing on such as underwear. The level of comfort that is right for you will always be honoured.

What Parts of My Body Will Be Massaged?

A typical full-body massage session will include work on your back, arms, legs, head, neck and shoulders. You and the massage therapist will discuss your desired goals for the massage.

Will Oils or Lotion Be Used?

Your massage therapist will use a light oil or lotion to reduce excessive friction to the skin and permit smoother deeper strokes. These lubricants are also used to help hydrate the skin. Please let the therapist know if you are allergic to certain oils or scents.

What Will The Massage Feel Like?

It depends on the techniques the therapist uses, which are based on your goals. Your massage session may start with broad flowing strokes to begin the relaxation process. To relax specific areas and release tight muscle bands, you will feel a gradual increase in pressure. Deep tissue massage or trigger point therapies will require more intense pressure and more intensive techniques. If, at any time, however, you wish to receive less or more pressure, just let your therapist know. Your comfort is paramount.

Will I Experience Soreness After the Massage?

Depending on the type of massage and degree of pressure you received, you may experience some soreness or tenderness afterward. Hydrating with plenty of fluids following your massage may lessen these symptoms, which will typically subside in the following couple days.
